Apprenticeship Standards are a framework for designing and delivering high-quality apprenticeships that are based on the needs of employers and industry sectors. They are developed by groups of employers, known as Trailblazers, who collaborate with industry experts and training providers to identify the skills, knowledge, and behaviours that are required for a specific occupation.
Each Apprenticeship Standard sets out the skills, knowledge, and behaviours that an apprentice must demonstrate in order to complete the apprenticeship successfully. They include a clear description of the job role, the skills and knowledge required, the qualifications or certifications that the apprentice will receive, and the end-point assessment that must be passed to complete the apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship Standards are designed to be more flexible and responsive to the needs of employers, giving them more control over the design and delivery of apprenticeships. They are also intended to improve the quality and consistency of apprenticeships, ensuring that apprentices gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen occupation.
There are currently over 500 Apprenticeship Standards available across a wide range of industry sectors, with more being developed all the time.
